Sometimes it’s very important to view things from the outside. The Bigger Picture. It’s not easy to do, but we must try because that’s the picture that allows us to make the most progress, internally/individually and as a group.

To be able to view the bigger picture, you have to be willing to sacrifice some things. It’s essential because if you don’t give up the trivialities, you will be stuck with the job of trying to keep everyone happy. I believe this applies to both the interpersonal relations as well as project work/jobs. (At least based on my personal experiences)

Even though it is difficult to sacrifice something that you value, or make some one sacrifice something they value; the result is worth it. At times, it may be necessary to ’sacrifice’ something that is part of your nature. Or at the very least ignore that part.

I don’t see this as ‘losing yourself’ or even ‘not being true to yourself’ because it is something that is necessary. We must try to make such behavior a part of ourselves – for our own good and for the good of others.

In fact, it is not a situation to feel depressed or saddened, or even introspective. I believe, that it is an opportunity, a rare one, for which we must rise to the occasion. So we must be optimistic, brave and stoic about it.

I guess i’m sounding rather preachy right now. But i was having a conversation with my sister today and we came upon the topic of judgment. She mentioned that we are not ‘free’ from obligations or responsibility to others until we ‘choose’ to be so. The only thing holding us back, is ourselves. If we want to be a certain kind of person, we must not simply talk about it, but must do something to achieve that ideal. (The actual specifics of the the conversation are too much to post here, unfortunately…)

Being able to see this ‘big picture’ was an eye opener for both of us. (i still think i need more time to fully grasp it, but i’m on my way).

Sometimes it’s difficult to become Better, but we must always attempt it…

Thanks for listening,

sourspicy: I’m baffled – but happy :) (different reasons for both..haha)
